Safari Itinerary

4 Days Safari to Serengeti and Ngorongoro

Tour Overview

During the dry seasons the Tarangire River, being one of the main sources of water in the area, attracts various animals from not only Tarangire, but the Lake Manyara National Park as well. After an extensive game drive, you will drive to Karatu, a town close to Ngorongoro Area Loduare gate For dinner and overnight.

The start of your Tanzania adventure begins by landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our representative will meet you and drive to Arusha, for lodge overnight. You can use the afternoon or evening relaxing at leisure, shortly interrupted by briefing from your lead safari guide about safari program.

Overnight.

After breakfast set off for Serengeti National Park with lunch boxes, stopping for a picnic on a Kopje (rocky outcropping) amidst the endless plains of the Serengeti. After this extraordinary lunch in the wilderness of Africa, we continue our thrilling game drive.

The Serengeti is famous for its wildebeest migration crossing Grumeti and Mara Rivers (June-August). 2.5 million wildebeest, driven by the same ancient rhythms, follow their instincts on the inescapable cycle of life which includes a frenzied territorial conquest, mating, and survival of the fittest. They form a 25 mile (40km) long column, plunge through crocodile infested waters on their annual exodus north and replenish their species during a brief population explosion that produce more than 250,000 calves over a 3 week period during the months of October-December, following the wildebeest’s 600 mile pilgrimage.

Overnight as per your safari program.

After breakfast, we will drive to our descent into Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of game viewing. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the greatest natural spectacles on earth. Its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. The crater is just a small part of the Ngorongoro Conservation area which offers a whole range of attractions for adventurous travelers. The Ngorongoro maintains the historical balance between people and nature in a way that is not possible in other parts of Africa.

There are up to 30,000 animals in Ngorongoro crater at any one time including the Big Five (rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard) and most of the other animals located in the Serengeti such as giraffes, zebras, hippos, wildebeest and cheetahs. Everything about the Ngorongoro experience is designed to make your visit a memory of a lifetime.

Overnight as per your safari program.

To experience the crater without the crowds you rise early for a half-day game drive, reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise.

Two geological rifts run through the area that define the boundaries of the Great Rift Valley. Volcanic activity in the Ngorongoro Highlands were formed 3 million years ago. One of these, Oldonyo Lengai (“Mountain of God” to the Maasai ), is still active. Over millennia, the ash and dust from each eruption has been carried by the winds to form the fertile soils of the Serengeti plain.

Enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lakes as you watch elephants quench their thirst from afar. Mid afternoon return to Arusha city.

End of the service.
