If you are particularly lucky, you will be able to see tree climbing lions, which are major attraction in the park.

After breakfast, we will drive to our descent into Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of game viewing. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the greatest natural spectacles on earth. Its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. The crater is just a small part of the Ngorongoro Conservation area which offers a whole range of attractions for adventurous travelers. The Ngorongoro maintains the historical balance between people and nature in a way that is not possible in other parts of Africa.

There are up to 30,000 animals in Ngorongoro crater at any one time including the Big Five (rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard) and most of the other animals located in the Serengeti such as giraffes, zebras, hippos, wildebeest and cheetahs. Everything about the Ngorongoro experience is designed to make your visit a memory of a lifetime.

Overnight as per your safari program.

To experience the crater without the crowds you rise early for a half-day game drive, reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise.

Two geological rifts run through the area that define the boundaries of the Great Rift Valley. Volcanic activity in the Ngorongoro Highlands were formed 3 million years ago. One of these, Oldonyo Lengai (“Mountain of God” to the Maasai ), is still active. Over millennia, the ash and dust from each eruption has been carried by the winds to form the fertile soils of the Serengeti plain.

Enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lakes as you watch elephants quench their thirst from afar. Mid afternoon return to Arusha city.
