These months are perfect for safaris and beach excursions, thanks to the pleasant climate and outstanding wildlife viewing. However, be prepared for elevated hotel prices and busier parks and attractions.
This time strikes a balance with moderate hotel rates and fewer crowds. While the weather can be unpredictable and some attractions may have limited access due to rain, you can still enjoy excellent wildlife sightings and a more tranquil safari experience.
Ideal for those on a budget, the low season offers the most affordable hotel rates and the least crowded parks. Although heavy rains can impact travel plans, they also create a lush and vibrant landscape that enhances the beauty of your surroundings.
After breakfast, you will have a full day of game viewing on the Serengeti Plains. The Serengeti is famous for its wildebeest migration crossing Grumeti and Mara rivers, when 2.5 million wildebeest and zebras follow their ancestors path creating unique cycle of life that includes a frenzied territorial conquest, mating and survival of the fittest. At the park, you will also have the opportunity to explore the endless plains and big mammals such are lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, rhino and African hunting dog.
To experience the crater without the crowds you rise early for a half-day game drive, reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise.
Two geological rifts run through the area that define the boundaries of the Great Rift Valley. Volcanic activity in the Ngorongoro Highlands were formed 3 million years ago. One of these, Oldonyo Lengai (“Mountain of God” to the Maasai ), is still active. Over millennia, the ash and dust from each eruption has been carried by the winds to form the fertile soils of the Serengeti plain.
Enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lakes as you watch elephants quench their thirst from afar. Mid afternoon return to Arusha city.
